What do you do when you start university but can’t find a place to live in an overheated housing market, or when you’re forced to travel long distances just to reach your new campus? For many first-year students, that’s the reality. Out of that urgency came an activation at Utrecht Central Station, designed to spotlight the student housing shortage and give new students a warm welcome into the academic year.

Idea

We created ten fully furnished tents right in the middle of Utrecht Central Station, complete with breakfast, music, camping gear and even a bicycle at the door. A temporary mini-campus at the busiest station in the Netherlands. For three days, new students slept in a place normally meant only for quick transfers. They got to know each other, the city and the start of their new academic life.
